BEING BOLD
End of one week and month. Beginning of another. BOLD.
At the beginning of 2021, someone asked me what is my word is for the year? What is the one word that I will live into, breathe and choose from. My word was BOLD.
The definition of BOLD is taking risks, being confident, courageous.
I love this word. I love it for its behavior, its fearlessness, its opportunity. But, most importantly, I love it for its encompassing belief to never play small.
Over the last 3 months, I have working diligently on a collaborative collection that encompasses the essence of BOLD, more specifically AGING BOLDLY.
As women, we try our hardest to fight off age because the stigma around women aging is a reluctant combination of losing everything we have worked so hard for. That after we have gotten to a certain age, it’s all downhill.
The perception that we have expiration dates personally and professionally because of our age is real and yet the older we get, THE MORE VIBRANCY, YOUTHFULNESS, CREATIVITY, AND CURIOSITY we have in our lives and bring this to others.
Why would anybody see a wrinkle and see worthlessness?
So, how do we show up at age 40, 50, 60, 70, 80+? We continue to be BOLD!
Our mission at my company ASTOURI is to empower women to tell their community stories in style. When women share their stories and voices, they inspire others to do the same.
On November 3rd, the new collection in collaboration with IN THE GROOVE will launch and I hope you find this collection as beautifully bold and breathtaking as you are.
With that the quote of the week and month: “We live in a youth-obsessed culture that is constantly trying to tell us that if we are not young, and we’re not glowing, and we’re not hot, that we don’t matter. I refuse to let a system or a culture or a distorted view of reality tell me that I don’t matter. I know that only by owning who and what you are can you start to step into the fullness of life. Every year should be teaching us all something valuable.” — Oprah |
