BEING SEEN

End of one month. Beginning of another. SHOWING UP!

The other day I opened the door to my home. I placed my bag and keys down. In the midst of the hot August sun streaming through the windows, I muttered, “tough, tough, tough.” I took a deep breath and carried on with the long list of things that needed attention.

This summer has been a season of constant. Constant work. Constant challenges. Constant closed doors. Constant blocks. Constant pivots. Constant letting go of what does not serve me . . . and in the middle of it all, finding constant gratitude, constant joy in the little things, and constant breathe into feeling presence.

I was on a call the other day with a woman who took her company public. She said the hardest thing about being an entrepreneur is going to bed failing and having to say to yourself “Give it one more day. Just one more day.” Which was her mantra for two years.

After that call, I thought a lot about where I am today and where I was a year ago. I thought how constant work and energy no matter what genre it’s going into will eventually lead to something great and how much we need to believe in that. I thought about how CONSTANT equals consistent and consistent equals commitment and commitment is a revealing force of our own self to self and to a grander more larger vision.

With that, the quote of the month:

“It is not about winning. It is not about loosing. It is about showing up and being seen. If you are going to show up and be seen, there is only one guarantee, and that is you will get your ass kicked. That is the guarantee. That is the only certainty you have. If you are going to go into the arena and spend any time in there whatsoever, especially if you have committed to creating in your life, you will get your ass kicked. So, you have to decide that if courage if value that you hold, this is the consequence. We cannot avoid it.” – Brene Brown
